11 Kings prospects to join team for practice in LA on Wednesday

April 30, 2012 By John Hoven

As first reported over the weekend, with Manchester (the Kings’ AHL affiliate) eliminated from the playoffs on Friday night, ten Monarchs players will be coming to LA to be part of the ‘black aces’ – a term often associated with reserve players skating during the NHL playoffs. Joining the group will be Tyler Toffoli, one of the Kings top prospects, who’s Ottawa 67’s were also eliminated from the playoffs on Friday.

All 11 players are on their way to LA and will take to the ice on Wednesday at the Kings training facility in El Segundo.

Here’s some more info on each player:

Thomas Hickey – D (jersey No. 37) – regular season: (3-23=26, 36 PIM in 76 GP for Manchester) – playoffs: (0-4=4, 2 PIM in 4 GP for Manchester)

Martin Jones – G (jersey No. 31) – regular season: (18-17-2, 2.60 GAA, .919 spct, 1 SO in 41 GP for Manchester) – playoffs: (1-1, 2.33 GAA, .933 spct in 3 GP for Manchester)

Tyler Toffoli – C (jersey No. 73) – regular season: (52-48=100, 22 PIM in 65 GP for Ottawa, in OHL ranked: second in points, first in goals, tied for 10th in assists) – playoffs: (11-7=18, 21 PIM in 18 GP for Ottawa)

Linden Vey – RW (jersey No. 57) – regular season: (19-24=43, 16 PIM in 74 GP for Manchester) – playoffs: (2-4=6, 0 PIM in 4 GP for Manchester)

If you’re wondering why Brandon Kozun wasn’t included in the group, he suffered a hip injury in the second game of Manchester’s first round series.  Although he continued to play until the Monarchs were eliminated, it’s best he gives his body some rest.

We’ll have much more with the prospects up later in the week.

In the meantime, if you missed this weekend’s MayorsManor show – with guests Luc Robitaille, Rob Blake, Ian Laperriere, Bob Miller and several others – it’s a can’t miss show. Click here to catch the free replay now.
