Frozen Fury 2010 – Doughty post-skate comments

October 2, 2010 By John Hoven

The Kings took their pre-game skate at 9am today (way too early for Vegas by the way!)

Following their 25 minutes on the ice, several different players provided some exclusive comments for MayorsManor.

As the morning wears on here, I’ll have more quotes posted from Anze Kopitar, Jack Johnson and Richard Clune. First up though, Drew Doughty…

MM: With so many guys in and out of the line-up during pre-season it’s hard to carry momentum from game to game. So, how are you approaching tonight after such a dominating performance against the Ducks?

DD: It’s definitely important to get on a roll as a player and as a team.  As you said, it’s tough to get rolling in exhibition games.  Now that we have most of our line-up pretty much set here, it will be good.  We need to have two good games this weekend and then roll into the season.

Most guys are just talking about getting their legs under them, so what does that mean to have a ‘good game’ in a pre-season game like tonight?

Obviously, we’re always looking for a win.  But, I think most importantly, even if we don’t win we just want to play a good team game.  We want to play our systems properly.  We want to make sure we’re gelling with each other, our linemates.  Some guys have hardly played with the guys they’re playing with tonight.  So, it’s different.  We definitely need to come out tonight and play our best game of the exhibition series and win.

This is Willie Mitchell‘s first Frozen Fury.  Given that this isn’t a regular pre-season atmosphere, have you given him a heads up on what to expect tonight?

It’s definitely not a typical pre-season game.  This is an awesome game, it’s almost as fun as a regular season game.  The crowd is just crazy here.  I haven’t said much to him though.  I’m sure at some point today I’ll talk to him a little bit and give him a heads up.  He’ll have a lot of fun in the game tonight.

More comments coming soon.

In the meantime, check out the photos and notes I posted on twitter.
