Ontario Reign 2015-16 AHL Jersey Preview

We continue to chase down every detail related to the AHL’s West Coast invasion, and we’re back with more information. In the spirit of full disclosure – even though our artist, Justin Cox, accurately provided comps for both of the Kings’ outdoor game jerseys (here and here) – getting intel on the new Ontario Reign jerseys has been about as difficult as getting any inside trade scoop we’ve pried out of our sources in recent years.

While the official jerseys will be unveiled at a press conference tomorrow afternoon, we believe we finally have all the pieces of information. Quite some time ago, we were led to believe the jersey itself would be based off of the shell currently used by both the Kings and the Manchester Monarchs. Separate sources have independently confirmed the crest (logo) will look as pictured below.

Overall, the design has not been confirmed by the Kings. About the only official word we were given is, “It was important for us to keep the Reign name, while honoring the history and brands of the NHL club and the Reign. In the end, we feel we came up with something that our players will be proud to wear and So Cal hockey fans will really enjoy.”

In less than 24 hours, we’ll find out just how close our comp is to reality. In the meantine, to see our comps of possible jerseys to be used by the San Diego Gulls, see here.

  1. meh.. i’m on the fence.. reminds me of a knock off local “city” shirt from China. I dig the colorway but the logo is debatable.

  2. Weak, i could see being similar. They look junior varsity hand me downs!!!!

  3. I like it a lot. The Reign did a jersey very similar to this on one of their Kings themed nights a few years ago. It was just worn one night and the game warn jerseys were then auctioned off.

  4. This is a rehash jersey they did for a specialty night a couple of years ago. It does not look modern. Some purple would have been nice. How about the word ONTARIO running diagonally across the front as an alternate. Just sayin

  5. Not impressed. Why couldn’t they have simply changed out the navy blue for black, used purple where the orange appears (save for the dragon’s fire, which would remain orange), and kept everything else the same on the current Reign logo? Would’ve looked great on the base Kings jersey with the home plate logos on each shoulder, IMO.
