After a 10 AM game on Wednesday, the Manchester Monarchs wrapped up their week with two road games, traveling to Binghamton and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to face the Senators and Penguins respectively. On Friday, the Monarchs erased three one-goal leads by the Senators before falling in overtime.
In the game versus Binghamton, a line brawl broke out after a whistle, resulting in game misconducts being handed out to Andrew Crescenzi, Kevin Gravel, Kevin Raine, as well as three Sens skaters.
WARNING: The video features explicit language during an exchange between the players in the penalty box.
The next day, Jordan Weal would score the winning goal, as the Monarchs beat the Penguins 3-2.
With 25 points, the Monarchs find themselves atop the Eastern Conference – the same spot the team ended in last season before a first-round playoff loss to Norfolk. Nick Shore’s 18 points in 17 games put in a tie for fifth in AHL scoring, while teammates Brian O’Neill and Weal are seventh and 12th respectively. Shore’s 10 goals leave him in a tie for second with three other players, one behind league leader Ty Rattie. Goalie JF Berube’s 0.921 save percentage places him fourth league wide, while his nine wins are the most of any netminder.
