Post-Game 3: Tyler Toffoli – ‘Just keep your head on a swivel’

May 18, 2013 By John Hoven

Tyler Toffoli post-game thoughts…

– On the overall game: “We played alright. We had a couple of chances to go up, but couldn’t finish. We just have to come here for the next game and play better.”

– On coach Sutter mixing up the lines: “It’s just another game. You just keep your head on a swivel and be ready whenever he calls your name to go out there. Then, just go and play the best you can.”

– On the difference between playing in San Jose compared to LA: “They’re definitely a different team here. The crowd was really into it. They took advantage of it early and got one quick. We fought back, but couldn’t finish.”

– On Tanner Pearson’s NHL debut: “He had a good game. Big game for him, first game in the playoffs, in San Jose, and it was a good game for him.”

Ever since he scored against Phoenix, my son is the biggest Toffoli fan…well, except for his own family. (My son’s first sled hockey goal was against the Phoenix Coyotes sled hockey team, so he feels a kinship.) He was excited to see the goal. Of course we’re all disappointed on the outcome of the game, but one loss does not lose a series. I figured the Kings would lose one of these two games in San Jose. They just need to come back with the confidence of champions and win the next one.

Kings Of The Podcast: S2, E6 with Warren Rychel

Warren Rychel was one of the most popular Kings in the early to mid-90s, especially coming off the team’s run to the 1993 Stanley Cup Final, where he posted six goals and 13 points to lead all NHL rookies in playoff scoring.
