Dustin Penner – ‘Pretty simple: see, hear, do’

On his opinion of how he is playing:

“Not bad. Could be better.” (reporter: “In what ways?”)…”, score more goals. More offensive zone time.”

On how to get more offensive zone time:

“Just have to do it. Pretty simple: see, hear, do.”

On what he did to relax a little on his day off yesterday:

“It wasn’t really a break for 24 hours, I had about three hours of free time, so I downloaded music.” (MM: “What did you download?”)… “A bunch of stuff you wouldn’t know.” (MM: “Electronic dance music?”)… “We don’t call it that.” (MM: “What do you call it?”)…  “It’s house or trance. I know how you like to misquote me.”

[note: It was a joke, he was chirping about an old tweet that read ‘aloaf’ instead of ‘a lot’.]

On the mood before tonight’s game:

“We’re excited to get to play another game in front of our home fans. Feed off their energy, we’re doing pretty well at home, we just got to continue along the same paths that we have been here at Staples.”

More on the mood in the Kings’ locker room today:

“Controlled excitement, we want to be able to have a start down here like they’ve had up there at The Tank up in San Jose. I think maybe we were a little laxed in our preparation. Speaking for each individual, we thought we would split one up there and it doesn’t work that way, we have to earn each game.”

On if he’s still frustrated about the missed calls from the last two games:

“It’s all gone.” (MM: “You’ve watched it, you’re over it?)…”I didn’t even watch my fake goal.” (MM: “Why”)… “It doesn’t matter. The Hockey Gods have a funny way of working themselves out.”

On his reputation being the guy to turn it on during the post-season:

“I don’t know. You’re the one with the pen, you’re the one who get’s to watch, you tell me.” (reporter: Well sometimes you see a lot more down there, so how do you feel?”)… “Yeah, I feel good.” (reporter: “Is there anything about the playoffs?”)… “It means a lot more.”
