MayorsManor First Goal Contest: Game 19 – Kings at Canucks

Yes, Jeff Carter has scored in five straight games – but, Justin Williams didn’t go with the Kings’ leading goal scorer when we asked who will get the first marker vs. Vancouver tonight.

“Me! I’d like to just get one,” he said. “So, I’m going to say me.”

Dwight King has other ideas. He’s been ‘working’ (as Darryl Sutter put it) and that’s produced assists in three straight games, but no goals yet.

“I’m figuring it out, it took me a while to get going obviously,” King began to explain when we asked him about his recent play. “I know have to keep working. Every player works in the game. But, if you continually do it, I said I was struggling, but it gives you a chance to get out there. And that’s all you can bring to the table if other things aren’t going your way.”

So, take either of those guys or chose somebody else in tonight’s First Goal Contest.  It’s your call.

To enter, simply place a comment below with the LAST NAME of the LA Kings player you think will score first vs. the Canucks tonight (one entry per person). We’ll take all of the correct entries and pool them together. From that group, one random winner will win a $20 gift certificate to the Redondo Beach Cafe – Southern California’s all hockey restaurant. If you haven’t been there to watch a game, click here for more info and get down there soon. They also have lots of great hockey memorabilia on the walls.

Now, to help you with your entry/guess, here are the line combinations coach Darryl Sutter is expected to use…

FORWARDS

Dustin Brown – Anze Kopitar – Justin Williams

Trevor Lewis – Mike Richards – Jeff Carter

Dustin Penner – Jarret Stoll – Dwight King

Kyle Clifford – Colin Fraser – Jordan Nolan

DEFENSE

Keaton Ellerby – Drew Doughty

Rob Scuderi – Slava Voynov

Davis Drewiske – Jake Muzzin – Alec Martinez (note: only two of the three will play)

Healthy Scratches: Brad Richardson and one defenseman

Jonathan Quick is expected to start for the Kings and face Cory Schneider of the Canucks.

Good luck in the contest!
