MayorsManor First Goal Contest: Game 3 – Kings at Oilers

In the two games played so far this season the Kings have notched three goals total – all from players who don’t normally register too high up on the scoring charts.  For example, their totals from last year show just eight goals…combined.

Still, Kyle Clifford, Jordan Nolan and Rob Scuderi remain as the only LA players to find the back of the net in the early going of 2013. Will that change tonight in Edmonton?

Guess which Kings player will light the lamp first and you could win a great prize.

For anybody new to the scene here, this contest is simple. Place a comment below with the LAST NAME of the LA Kings player you think will score first in tonight’s game vs. the Oilers (one entry per person). We’ll take all of the correct entries and pool them together. From that group, one random winner will get a prize.

Today you’re playing for the premium felt banner shown the left. It comes to us from the team at – since 1998 they’ve been one of the top online hockey poster sites in the world and they have tons of great Kings items available and ready to ship. After you enter the MayorsManor First Goal Contest, be sure to head over to their site and check out all the good stuff they offer.

Now, to help you with your selection today, these are the expected line combinations coach Darryl Sutter will likely start the game with…

Dustin Brown – Anze Kopitar – Justin Williams

Kyle Clifford – Mike Richards – Jeff Carter

Dwight King – Jarret Stoll – Trevor Lewis

LW4* – Colin Fraser – Jordan Nolan

NOTE: the fourth line left wing will either be Simon Gagne or Brad Richardson

If you like defenseman, they’ll be paired up like this…

Rob Scuderi – Drew Doughty

Alec Martinez – Slava Voynov

Davis Drewiske – Jake Muzzin

Healthy Scratches: Andrew Bodnarchuk, Dustin Penner and the LW who doesn’t play on the fourth line

If you’re into the numbers, the following stats may come in handy…

– Brown has 12 goals in 28 career games vs Edmonton

– Kopitar has 7 goals in 22 games

– Stoll has 4 goals in 13 games

– Williams has 2 goals in 17 games

– Richards has just 1 goal in 9 games

If you’re looking for a further edge, you may want to read this article about the changes the coaching staff recently made to the power play units.

Good luck!
