MayorsManor Live Radio with Kings prospect Brandon Kozun

After two years as a professional, Kings prospect Brandon Kozun continues to mature as a player and a person. Selected by GM Dean Lombardi in the sixth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Kozun tore up the WHL during his final two years of junior hockey – and was named the 2010 WHL and CHL Player of the Year. Then, each of the last two years in Manchester he posted at least 20 goals.

Now, the 22-year old right wing sees his role transitioning from a young rookie player in the AHL to one of the guys who can help transition several of the Monarchs new players into the pro game this season – names like Andy Andreoff, Tanner Pearson, Nikolay Prokhorkin and Tyler Toffoli.

On today’s show we’ll talk about those changes as well as a these topics:

– LA Kings assistant coaches participating in the Monarchs training camp

– Changes still being felt from the Darryl Sutter hire

Martin Jones taking over the full-time goaltending job

– How Jordan Nolan, Andrei Loktinov and Slava Voynov are dealing with being in the AHL

Voynov’s ongoing efforts to learn the English language

– Having so many new players on the Monarchs roster this season

– His impressions of the early play from Andreoff, Toffoli and Pearson

– Not being invited by the Kings to take part in the Black Aces last spring

– Key games coming up on the Monarchs schedule (including a game vs. Ray Kaunisto)

– Growing up a Kings fan and his surprising connections to the organization

– A possible call-up to LA and more.

Get ready, here we go…
