It was another game and another win for the Manchester Monarchs. After a 4-0 shutout of the Binghamton Senators – their third straight win and second of the weekend – the Mark Morris coached squad now sports a 5-1 record on the season.
Here’s how the line combinations were put together:
Jake Muzzin – Slava Voynov
Thomas Hickey – Andrew Bodnarchuk
Nick Deslauriers – David Kolomatis
Healthy scratches: Andrew Campbell (D), Brian O’Neill (C) and Jordan Weal (C)
Kozun, the Kings 2009 draft pick and a former WHL scoring champion, put up the first goal of the game. It was his second marker of the season, after getting his first last night vs. the Sharks. He now also has at least one point in each of the Monarchs six games played so far.
Andreoff found the back of the net for the second consecutive game too (his third goal of the year). Loktionov and Toffoli rounded out the scoring for Manchester.
In net, Martin Jones stopped all 29 shots that came his way and was named the first star of the game. Kozun was the second star, with Loktionov earning third star honors.
After the footage from the ice you’ll get some post-game comments from coach Morris, Jones and Kozun…
It should be noted that today may have been the last North American game by Kings 2012 draft pick Nikolay Prokhorkin for a while. As reported previously, the KHL contends that his contract with the Kings is not valid because he was already inked to a multi-year deal in Russia. The case will be heard tomorrow. So, that’s something to keep an eye on this week.
