Kings player finally gets the tattoo Lombardi’s been talking about

Quick Kings NHL MayorsManorSince joining the team in April 2006, GM Dean Lombardi has given the ‘I want players who are willing to get the Kings logo tattooed on their butt’ speech dozens of times. It’s a passionate plea, where he states that in order to build the culture he desires and create a winning team – similar to what the Red Wings have had for decades – that’s the level of commitment he’s looking for.

In part, it’s one of the many reasons Dustin Brown was anointed captain in October 2008. He was correctly identified as one of those type of players.

Now, as if his recently signed 10-year contract extension wasn’t proof enough, goalie Jonathan Quick has done something a little more permanent to display his loyalty. Check out the fresh ink on the right side of his rib cage (left side of the photo).

Quick placed it a little higher than Lombardi has been asking for, but Dean can now say one of his players has the Kings logo tattooed on their body. For real this time.

  1. “How about this f’ing tattoo right here”

  2. A goalie of his caliber with his (apparent) love for the team could go a long way in making LA a marquee destination for high end talent over the next 10 years. It’s great to see that “culture” finally coming along, need a few more deep runs though. This team needs to expect to win, more so, other teams need to expect them to win.

  3. Pretty sure Jack Johnson got the tattoo Lombardi wanted and still got traded.

  4. KingsFan on EastCoastTime says

Love the commitment! Nervous about the back.
