MayorsManor on-ice interview with Drew Doughty

Legend has it that Kings GM Dean Lombardi told defenseman Drew Doughty ‘You’re going to win me a Stanley Cup’ on the podium at the 2008 NHL Draft, after selecting him second overall out of the OHL. Along the way, Doughty has shown flashes of brilliance, but seemed to put it all together in the Finals this year. With two assists in the series deciding Game 6, he finished tops among defensemen in postseason assists (12), points (16) and plus-minus (+11). He also tied for first among blueliners with four goals. Coming up big when his team needed him most, Doughty topped all scorers during the Stanley Cup Final with six points (two goals, four assists) in six games.

Here’s what he had to say just minutes after winning the Stanley Cup…

Late last night we posted full video of the Kings Stanley Cup rally up here. And earlier today we posted an on-ice interview with Kings Asst GM Ron Hextall here.
