Contest: First Goal – 4/24/2012 games and leaderboard

NHL playoffs 2012Hopefully by now you’ve already heard the news – we’re giving away a stick or jersey signed by the LA Kings right after the Stanley Cup is awarded to one well deserving team in about six weeks.

As announced over the weekend, this playoff-long First Goal Contest we’re hosting is slightly different than the version we run exclusively during Kings games.  Here, MayorsManor readers will submit guesses throughout the playoffs with a shot at the above mentioned prize.  Here’s how it works… Each morning we’ll post the games scheduled for that particular day. Your job is to guess who will score the first goal in each game, not for each team. However, to make things a little easier, you can take a player from BOTH teams.

For example, here’s what an entry would look like for the games scheduled today, Tuesday 4/24/2012:

Florida (Versteeg) at New Jersey (Parise)

The maximum number of correct entries today would be one, as there’s only one game. Again, you’re trying to pick the first goal in the GAME.

We’ll track the number of correct entries and post an occasional leaderboard. The person with the most correct submissions at the end of the NHL playoffs will win their choice of an LA Kings team signed jersey or stick!

Here’s a quick look at how things are going through games played on 04/23/2012:

6 correct entries – Four people tied (Chelsea, Colo Kings Fan, Griffin, Janelle)

5 correct entries – Two people tied (James, Nicole)

4 correct entries – Two people tied (Ruben S, Steve)

There’s also a long list of people with one, two or three correct entries.  So, as you can see, it’s still anybody’s race.  Best of all, if you haven’t entered, jump in now – you still have a great chance to win!
