The Kings will suit up for their second-to-last home game of the regular season tonight against one of their long-time rivals, the Edmonton Oilers.
Each team has featured a plethora of former players from the other side over the years – and names like Jarret Stoll, Matt Greene, Dustin Penner, Ryan Smyth and Eric Belanger are keeping the tradition alive. Tonight the Oilers will also have a former Kings prospect on the blueline, as they recalled defenseman Colten Teubert over the weekend. You may remember, he made his NHL debut during Edmonton’s only other visit to LA earlier this season.
Prior to the two team’s facing off last Friday in Canada, Penner stopped by MayorsManor to share some thoughts about playing his old team. You can read those comments here. He also joined us on the one-year anniversary of his trade to LA (here) back in February.
As for tonight, we’ll host our usual First Goal Contest – giving you a chance to win two free tickets to Thursday’s regular season finale at Staples Center. Entering is easy, simply leave a comment below with the LA player you think will score first vs. the Oilers. All correct answers will be pooled together and one random winner will be awarded the tickets.
To help you with your selection, the following stats may come in handy…
– Dustin Brown has 12 goals in 27 career games vs Edmonton
– Anze Kopitar has 7 goals in 21 games
– Justin Williams has 2 goals in 16 games
– Mike Richards has 1 goals in 8 games
– Stoll has 4 goals in 12 games
– Brad Richardson has 3 goals in 28 games
– Drew Doughty has 5 goal in 15 games
Of course, feel free to take any of the other Kings players – i.e. Colin Fraser, Jordan Nolan, Willie Mitchell, etc.. Just remember that Kevin Westgarth is scheduled to be a healthy scratch again and the status of Davis Drewiske could be a game-time decision. He’s likely going to get one more start before the end of the season and when he does, the defenseman he replaces in the line-up will most likely be Alec Martinez.
