The Kings will try to win their fourth game in a row tonight, something they’ve only done one other time all season. Standing in front of them will be a Nashville Predators team that is 6-2-2 in their last 10 games and is 29-3-4 when they score first. However, if the Preds opponent nets the first goal of the night, they have a 12-18-4 record. Combine that with the fact the Kings have only won seven of 33 games when the other team scores first and you’ll see why the message is simple – if LA can score first, they’ll have a much better chance.
Like usual, MayorsManor will host another First Goal Contest tonight. Before you submit your guess though, here’s who a few of the players think will score first…
Jarret Stoll – “Trevor Lewis” (note: he was showing some love for his linemates, taking Dustin Penner last night)
Drew Doughty – “Dustin Brown”
Dustin Brown – “Kyle Clifford”
If you’d like to enter, simply leave a comment below with the LA player you think will score first vs. the Predators. All correct answers will be pooled together and one random winner will be awarded a free pair of tickets to an upcoming Kings home game.
To help you with your selection, the following stats may come in handy…
- Dustin Brown has 8 goals in 27 career games vs Nashville
- Anze Kopitar has 6 goals in 22 games
- Justin Williams has 3 goals in 15 games
- Mike Richards has 3 goals in 8 games
- Jeff Carter has 7 goals in 10 games
- Jarret Stoll has 8 goals in 28 games
- Drew Doughty has 4 goals in 15 games
Of course, feel free to take Alec Martinez, Slava Voynov, Penner or any of the other Kings players. Just stay clear of Kevin Westgarth, Brad Richardson and Davis Drewiske because they’re expected to be healthy scratches from tonight’s game.
