Trent Hunter on his first goal and the postgame meeting

December 8, 2011 By John Hoven

Trent Hunter played a total of 13:02 in the Kings 4-2 loss to the Wild tonight. He also recorded four hits and three shots on goal.

But, the most important stat related to Hunter was in the goal column. He scored his 100th NHL goal and first as a King – after going 0-15 this season.

“It’s definitely nice to get that monkey off my back,” said Hunter. “It’s been a long gap and a long year. But, it was nice to see that one go in and now hopefully I can keep things rolling.”

After the game it took several minutes longer than usual for the Kings dressing room to open for the media. What was being said?

“We were talking about what we need to do and how we need to play these games. As players, we know we need to be better. We’re going to regroup and be ready for Saturday.”

More to come.
